To his astonishment he found himself facing Julian’s step-mother, Rachel. She stood statue-still in nothing but red lingerie and some transparent wrapping. Her face had been made up, and she wore a big smile. Her eyes had the tell-tale thousand-yard-stare that came from having one of Julian’s micro-chips in her body. Rodney did not leave her on his doorstop long. As he picked her up and carried her inside she stayed as straight as a washboard. After he had looked over the shapely brunette beauty approvingly, he saw she had a note attached. It was from Julian.
